Bouchra Ravet - French

ouchre, French Instructor, Language Exchange of Northern ColoradoMy name is Bouchra Ravet. Bouchra is my first name… As you have certainly noticed, neither my name nor my look “sound” French... but that’s true, I’m French! So what is my secret?

In fact, my parents are Moroccans. They came to France when they were seventeen, so I was born in France. Since my childhood, my parents spoke only French to me. Every year, we went to Morocco for summer holidays. So I also understand a little bit of this language.

I’m very proud of my country, France, because we have a long history and most of the values we have now originate from our past. We also have very good food, for instance many cheeses and wines. Paris is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities around the world, and concentrates many museums, antique buildings, the Seine River…

Most of the people think (and I think so too!) that French is a romantic language. When I came in USA, everybody told me that going to France is a dream and that they would like to learn French. Because everybody loves this language, it will be a great pleasure for me to teach it and to share my culture with other people.

Indeed, it’s so important to learn about the other cultures and how foreigners live. We’re not alone on this earth and I consider that discovering other cultures is very important. I really believe that the knowledge of the other cultures bring people closer. The lack of knowledge may carry damage to humanity. That’s the reason why I want to bring my assistance to the Language Exchange Northern Colorado LLC. Their work is very important, especially for the child, because it’s easier to learn languages and to be sensitive to other cultures when you are young.

In France, I had the same kind of job; but the manners of teaching can be very different from one country to another! I have followed the LEXNC teaching and I loved it, because I think that it’s a very good way to learn.

I love to read (French literature or philosophy books because I’m graduated in philosophy), to make manual works like cross-stitches and furniture restorations. I like also to practice fitness and when I was in France I learned salsa dance I love also cook.

But since I came here it’s so difficult to find some French book and I miss that especially because, now, I have a lot of time for that. I miss also my family, friends, the French food and the beaches and the sun of the south of France.

But it’s not really a problem because, here, people are very welcoming, friendly, helpful, sympathetic and interested when they know where you come from. I love Fort Collins because we have the opportunity to meet American people but also others cultures with the CSU’s students… and that’s so exciting and interesting! It’s very pleasant to live in Fort Collins, we have really the felling that you are safe here, all seems quiet and peaceful. Colorado is a wild place, we can see a lot of wild animals closed to us… Also, people are not stressed, like to do a lot of sports like running, riding…

When we arrived in Colorado this summer, my husband and me went to Arches National Park (Utah), Garden of the God (Colorado Springs), Colorado National Monument (Grand Junction) and Rocky Mountains National Park. It was a unique experience of my life especially at Arches, my favorite!! It’s so splendid to see all this red rocks especially in the evening during the sunset, when rocks colors are awesome!!! I will never forget my first trip in the Colorado!!!
