Lily Zhang - Chinese
I said goodbye to my family in China ten years ago, and started a life changing journey to the other side of the Ocean. After the initial culture shock, I adapted quickly to the food and the new environment in the U.S., but I still miss many things in China, especially those spicy Sichuan dishes which are hard to find in the United States.
I took a trip to Canada last May, which brought back so many sweet memories. In the past few years, I also traveled around the United States. Fort Collins is one of my favorite places. It is such a pleasant and peaceful city with a diverse community and lots of fun outdoor activities nearby. I’m very impressed that Fort Collins has so many bike trails and bike lanes because I love biking. This gave me a warm feeling of home, where I cycled a lot (China is a country of bikes).
It’s a great opportunity for me to teach at the Language Exchange of Northern Colorado, since I can not only meet new people, but also introduce the Chinese culture, which I am so proud of, to the wonderful students here.
